Replication and Fabrication

Portfolio

Replications

  • Apollo 1 command module replica (on display at the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering at Purdue University)
  • All space hardware and replica spacecraft from the movie Apollo 13, starring Tom Hanks

Simulators

Not only does the Cosmosphere replicate the look of space hardware; it also replicates the function. The Cosmosphere builds simulators that can reproduce a variety of different situations:

  • The sight and tasks associated with flying the space shuttle (space shuttle simulator)
  • The stress sometimes encountered in space (stress simulator)
  • The excitement of offering mission support from Earth (mission control simulator)
  • The tasks associated with landing and operating the lunar lander (lunar module simulator)
