Chris Orwoll Bio

 

Christopher D. Orwoll
President and CEO, Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center

Christopher Orwoll began his career in the Navy in 1982, serving aboard the submarines USS OHIO (Division Officer and Tactical Systems Officer), USS TUCSON (Operations Officer), and the USS DOLPHIN (Executive Officer).

Orwoll also worked in the education field, teaching naval science for the Naval ROTC units at both Cornell University and the University of Kansas. While at KU, Orwoll also served as the Naval ROTC unit's commanding officer. Orwoll earned his bachelor's in Naval Architecture from the United States Naval Academy and his master's in Strategic Studies from the Air War College. He retired from the Navy in 2007.

The Cosmosphere hired Orwoll as president and CEO in March 2007.

Marisa Honomichl bio

 

Marisa Honomichl
Vice President of Marketing & Development, Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center

Marisa Honomichl joined the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center as Director of Marketing and was promoted in the summer of 2008 to Vice President of Development. Honomichl is reponsible for all marketing functions of the Cosmosphere, including advertising, public relations, media relations and publications as well as grant writing, capital campaigns and corporate sponsorships.

With more than 15 years of management experience in marketing and public relations, Honomichl directed the marketing activities of billion-dollar global manufacturers in the building and construction industries, as well as for other not-for-profit organizations. Honomichl also served as an instructor at Hutchinson Community College teaching advertising.

Honomichl received her bachelor's in Advertising & Mass Communications from the School of Journalism at the University of Kansas. She served on the Board of Directors for the Kansas Department of Commerce District Export Commission for two years and was a speaker and mentor for Kansas companies looking to expand their business into Canada and Mexico.
