Curriculum Area: Science (emphasis: properties of matter)
Density, pressure, temperature…oh my! Teaching properties of matter can be a little overwhelming for students but you can capture their attention with fake snow, silly slime and more. Explore the world of funky materials while teaching the science standards.
S.S.I: Solar System Investigation
September 25 & 26
Grades K-5
Curriculum areas: Reading, Writing, Science, Math
…Saturn…Uranus…Neptune…but not Pluto? Looking for new ways to explore Universe in your classroom or just need an update on our ever-changing solar system? This workshop will give you hands-on lessons for your classroom that teach up-to-date solar system facts. Fully aligned with Education Standards, this session will show you how to get your students actively involved in investigative thinking.

Science of the Season
November 13 & 14

Curriculum Area: Science, Math
Eggnog, cookies and flying sleighs…come experience the science of the holidays. This fun workshop will give you the perfect opportunity to incorporate the thrill of the Holiday season into your classroom all while meeting state science standards. This hands-on workshop promises to be unique and fun even for the Scrooge’s in the bunch.

October 22 – 26
Interested in the inner workings of NASA’s Johnson Space Center? Then head to Houston with us! This is your chance to experience NASA up close and personal with a personal tour not accessible to just anybody. You will have a chance to see areas not open to the public and speak to scientists and engineers. Stand where Flight Controllers stood during the historic moon landings and see cutting edge spacesuits. Also included in this trip is a visit to Galveston Island. This trip includes bus transportation and hotel accommodations.
Price for this workshop is $500 with double room accommodations.
Registration Information
Each workshop begins at 8:30 AM and ends by 4:00 PM on each day. Included with this workshop is 12 professional development points. Graduate credit is available for an additional fee.
NASA and the NASA/Kansas Space Grant Consortium provide a limited number of fellowships as noted in each workshop description. Graduate credit is available for all workshops. Each program is $125, but Kansas Educators can attend for just $25 thanks to the Kansas Space Grant Consortium. Payment is due one week prior to workshop.
