Future Astronaut Training Program

FATP 2.0
6-Day Residential Camp
For students entering Grade 8+ and who have completed FATP 1.0
Location: Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center

  • Learn SCUBA basics and train in underwater exercises similar to those performed by astronauts in the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory at Johnson Space Center
  • Participate in teamwork training with a dynamic ropes course that features a 30-foot climbing wall
  • Fly a demanding and problematic shuttle mission in the Space Shuttle simulator Falcon
  • Experience advanced shuttle systems briefings
  • Complete advanced training on camp simulators: stress simulator, centrifuge, multi-axis trainer and Mission Control

Tuition is $795 and includes room, board and everything else campers need to enjoy their week. Transportation between Wichita Mid-Continent Airport and the Cosmosphere is available for a fee. FATP 1.0 is a prerequisite for this program and the student must be entering at least 8th grade.
