Future Astronaut Training Program

Level 1
6-Day Residential Camp
For students entering grades 7 – 10
Location: Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center

  • Train in camp simulators: stress simulator, Space Shuttle simulator, Mission Control, centrifuge, multi-axis trainer
  • Construct and operate robots similar to Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity
  • Practice spacewalk rescues
  • Train in an actual Soyuz capsule used to train astronauts from around the world
  • Tour the Hall of Space Museum, which houses an actual Apollo White Room, the Apollo 13 command module Odyssey, a Russian Vostok and other historically-significant U.S. and Russian space artifacts

Each session is limited to 30 campers. Tuition is $695 and includes room, board and everything else campers need to enjoy their week. Scholarships are available. The deadline to apply for scholarships is April 1. Transportation between Wichita Mid-Continent Airport and the Cosmosphere is available for a fee.
