Future Astronaut Training Program

FATP 1.0
4-Day Residential Camp
For students entering grades 6, 7 & 8
Location: Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center

  • Train in camp simulators: stress simulator, Space Shuttle simulator, Mission Control, centrifuge, multi-axis trainer
  • Construct and operate robots & practice spacewalk rescues
  • Train in an actual Soyuz capsule used to train astronauts from around the world
  • Tour the Hall of Space Museum, which houses an actual Apollo White Room, the Apollo 13 command module Odyssey, a Russian Vostok and other historically-significant U.S. and Russian space artifacts

Each session is limited to 30 campers. Tuition is $550 and includes room, board and everything else campers need to enjoy their week. Scholarships are available. The deadline to apply for scholarships is March 15, 2010. Transportation between Wichita Mid-Continent Airport and the Cosmosphere is available for a fee.
