Rockets and Living in Space
4-Day Residential
Camp
For students entering grades 7 & 8
Location: Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center
- Investigate, construct, and launch a variety of rockets
- Train for the challenges of living and working in space using KAOS simulators: stress simulator, centrifuge, multi-axis trainer, and Mission Control
- Operate a Soyuz capsule used to train astronauts from around the world
- Learn the lessons of history in the Hall of Space Museum, housing an Apollo White Room, the lost spacecraft Liberty Bell 7, the Apollo 13 command module Odyssey, a flown Russian Vostok and many other U.S. and Russian space artifacts
- Tie it all together as your team flies a low Earth orbit mission in the Falcon III spacecraft simulator
Each session is limited to 30 campers. Tuition is $550 and includes room, board and everything else campers need to enjoy their week. Scholarships are available. The deadline to apply for scholarships is April 5, 2011. Transportation between Wichita Mid-Continent Airport and the Cosmosphere is available for a fee.
