The Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center offers five elementary camps that spark grade school children's interest in space. Choose between: Solar System, Lunar Base, Alien Adventure, Exploration Earth and Mars Academy. Maybe science isn't so bad after all.

SOLAR SYSTEM

Take a Journey to the Planets

5-day commuter camp (half days)

For students entering grades 2 & 3

20 participants per session

Price: $119

  • Navigate outer space from our Mission Command Center
  • Explore the sun through our telescope
  • Journey the galaxy in our Planetarium
  • Witness live rocketry demonstrations

LUNAR BASE

Launch Your Child's Interest in Space

5-day commuter camp (half days)

For students entering grades 3 & 4

20 participants per session

Price: $119

  • Work with Mission Control to discover the exciting challenges of daily life on the Moon
  • Examine (then eat!) totally cool experiments
  • Create a space-themed painting
  • Re-live the drama of the space race in our Hall of Space Museum
  • Watch space science educators flash-freeze liquid oxygen ice cream, and then eat it!

  • Perform Mars-themed science experiments in our Martian Laboratory
  • Witness live rocketry demonstrations

Mars Academy tuition includes food and room and board. Mars Academy is conducted each summer at the Cosmosphere. Students stay in the Hutchinson Community College dorms and eat in the cafeteria.
